The sky was a bright sapphire blue, there was a warm summery sun and we could feel a faint sea breeze as we wandered this gentle wetlands walk ten minutes from home. The 64 acres of wetlands had been tidied up and redeveloped a few years back following the nearby establishment of the Chiton eco-village - a community where every house overlooks a park or bushland, the houses are built for sustainability with high levels of energy efficiency and water conservation; and native re-vegetation plays a prominent part. A wide walking path snakes around the wetlands and the housing estate. Here is one of the houses ...
... and the wetlands they overlook. As you can see, the water level at this time of the year is pretty low.
It was a gentle walk, at first meandering through bushland, then opening out as we passed the wetlands.
We spotted ibis, grebes, stilts, ducks, swans, small birds ...

Here and there were some lovely touches:
A silver sculpture depicting birds in flight. |
A gorgeous bird house. |
On we rambled, every now and again taking time out to appreciate the environment.
Remembering my recent photography lessons, I searched for some different images. Eventually we turned back and retraced our steps.
Another place to wander next time I'm there! Hope you had your Happy Wanderer albatross pin on. I like the look of the house you featured and, particularly, the photo of water grass and tall grass reflection. Beautiful. You look rather chic too. Very Armand and Michaela Denis. XXXX
